Abstract

The following article introduces a study which deals with questions of perception and experience while dancing. Based on theories of transpersonal psychology a questionnaire has been developed to investigate the effects of dancing on people’s consciousness and its variability. It should be found out, whether and how everyday consciousness can be influenced and alterated when people dance. The results show 6 dimensions of dancing experience as different states and qualities of consciousness and 3 overriding patterns of consciousness, which emerge from these dimensions.
