The healing potential of the present
A paradigm shift
Abstract
The Healing Potential of Presence – A Paradigm Shift For decades the understanding of healing in psychotherapy has been characterized by a focus on past experience. Currently we can observe a fundamental shift of consciousness, due to the latest insights of modern brain research: the significance of resource-oriented methods in psychotherapy is increasing and there is a growing awareness that the potential of healing is not to be found in the past but in the present. At the same time, the term “presence” is not as easily defined as it might seem. Through different forms of introspective practices, it is possible to immerse oneself deeply in the present experience. On the one hand this may reveal spiritual insights, on the other hand the deep dimensions of the soul can be accessed, in which the natural and healthy aspects of our inner world are always potentially present. Based on the methods of „Transpersonale Prozessarbeit“ (Transpersonal Processing), the following article illustrates, how the process of healing can happen in the present moment.
