Abstract

Since wars begin in the mind of human beings, the human mind is the place where peaces have to be experienced, says the preamble of the UNESCO constitution analogously. The mind is framed by language and grammar and expresses by the same. Peaces are a relational construct that embraces all internal and external spheres of being human. And it can take a new shape in each human encounter. Therefore the research interest of transrational peace studies concerns the understanding of the human mind and its relations. Beyond that it embraces all aspects of being human that influence and determine our relations beyond the reason.

Author Biography

Wolfgang Dietrich

received his doctorate in history, literature and law. He is a habilitated political scientist and has training in several schools of humanistic psychology. He has worked as a conflict worker primarily in Latin America, but also in Asia, Africa and Europe. Since 1986 he has taught at universities on all continents and in 2001 he founded the Master's Course for Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation at the University of Innsbruck, which has become renowned for its transrational and elicit curriculum. Since 2008 he holds the UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies there. His best known publications are the trilogy "Variations on the Many Peace" and the Palgrave Handbook for Peace Studies.
