Finding healing attitudes towards a disease
Abstract
Besides external medical knowledge there is an inner knowledge which could serve as the next step towards healing. This physically felt knowledge is not directly accesible through mental understanding. Based on the concept of inner mindfulness and using the self-help method of Focusing from Gene Gendlin, this knowledge can be decoded. Our thoughts and interpretations of pathological symptoms are of great importance on the way to healing. If we succeed in accepting suffering and transience as basic facts of life, we can cope with our discomforts and inconveniences in an empathic and accepting way. Better than anybody else, our body can show us how to find appropriate, made to measure and healing attitudes towards causes, duration, control and an understanding of disease.
