The potential of mindfulness
Abstract
Mindfulness is a central quality of our consciousness and is situated in the context of attention, awareness, consciousness, presence, etc. If we do not reduce mindfulness to a concept, technique or programme, it has enormous potential. Mindfulness as an approach to life can contribute to the maturation of our personality. In meditation, mindfulness can make our thought structures visible to us, free us from them and promote our spiritual development. When mindfulness permeates organisations, a mindful corporate culture can develop that contributes to the self-organisation of a vibrant organisation. The social potential of mindfulness is even more profound when it permeates all areas of life, enabling us to mature socially and to take conscious responsibility for our future as human beings and for the nature of our planet. And last but not least, we can realise our participation in the awakening of humanity as an expression of evolution’s self-realisation.
