What is consciousness? - Multiplicity and meaning - (consciousness as a framework)
Summary of a lecture at the symposium "Applied Consciousness Science - A new discipline is emerging" on November 2, 2011 in Regensburg
Keywords:
Consciousness, Intentionality, Awakening, Multiplicity of meaning, Framing
Abstract
Consciousness obviously represents one of the greatest challenging topics within the field of cognitive sciences, since – in the specific type of understanding – it is nearly exclusively represented in human beings. Within the philosophical and psychiatric-anthropological types of reflection consciousness is investigated under the perspective of “framing” and – phenomenologically – regarding the quality of intentionality, the phenomenon of “awakening” and the crucial problem as to parallel streams of conscious experiences
