Abstract

In Christianity, the Holy Ghost as part of the Holy Trinity can be invoked by the scriptures, and by sermons, invocation, the sacraments and prayer. Although described in many ways, its experience is difficult and fleeting. In the contemporary spiritual Ridhwan School founded by A.H. Almaas the activation of the experience of Essence is an important part of the spiritual work. Almaas developed a psychological approach to Essence. In the article, Essence is understood as being parallel to the Holy Ghost and the concepts of the Holy Ghost and Essence and its realization are compared.
