Abstract

This paper is the 2nd part of an attempt to elucidate the concepts of mindfulness, presence and awareness which it uses synonymously as the translation of the Buddhist concept of sati. Shuttling between Buddhist contemplative and psychotherapeutic contexts it briefly assesses several contemporary therapeutic interpretations and practices of mindfulness. The example of Core Process Psychotherapy serves to sketch a vision of contemplative psychotherapeutic work based on the Buddhist notion of presence.
