The importance of tolerance in interreligious dialogue and interreligious encounter

Abstract

Tolerance and acceptance belong together in interreligious encounter. Religious tolerance is the reciprocally honoring of one´s belief and of different religions among themselves. Without tolerance there is no possibility for an authentic dialogue and a peaceful encounter.

Manfred Rompf

born 1936 in Würzburg; apprenticeship as a carpenter, training at the Evangelist School Johanneum Wuppertal, parish worker and youth leader, studied theology in Wuppertal, Heidelberg and Tübingen, parish priest in EssenKupferdreh; vh., 2 vh. sons. Zen and contemplation since 1974 with Dr. Willi Massa, P. Enomiya-Lassalle, Zen Masters (Prof. Nagaya, Seki Yuho, Sochu Suzuki), F.X. Jans-Scheidegger, P. Willigis Jäger. 1990 Diploma TZI group leader. 2000 confirmed as contemplation teacher by Willigis Jäger. Since 1974 leader of meditation and contemplation courses and groups;.
