Transformation and collective traumatisation
Abstract
N-Process-Moderation, a development based on Processwork of Arnold Mindell, considers social change to be a self organizing process of an extremely complex system. An interdisciplinary combination of chaos theory, Processwork and experiences from trauma therapy lead to the hypothesis that collective traumata form the most powerful barrier against social change. The knowledge about the dynamics of trauma requires to support the traumatized parts of the psyche in two ways, before sustainable social change is possible: 1. By feeling and expressing compassion with the victims within relevant subgroups and 2. By developing consciousness about the transcendent sources within single people and within the group. Facilitators of such processes need to take care of their own collective traumata to be able to help the change. The newly developed method of Slowflow allows to work on those inner processes in a conscious and sentient way in the middle of a group with a collective trauma experience.
