Abstract

Today’s manager must meet completely different demands than 30 years ago. A new understanding of leadership is needed. Persons in management positions can no longer act in their own interests but must align their actions to greater values. Increased self-awareness of employees, social responsibility, as well as financial and economic crisis make this need immanent. In this article a special management tool is introduced, one that in the rational business world is frequently dismissed as inferior, which however, has long played an integral role for successful business leaders: intuition. The conscious use of intuition, which is presented here, along with others tools, is based on four differing attention levels, which together, accelerates and simplifies decision-making and action processes. Four examples of practical application show how the conscious use of intuition can be implemented, thereby assisting business executives to become Intelligent Leaders.
